New Years Resolutions for Home Sellers

If selling your house is part of your to-do list in 2020, it’s a great idea to come up with some New Year resolutions around that goal to back it up — the same as you would for your personal goals.

What kind of New Year’s Resolutions can help you sell your house faster in 2020? I’ve come up with 3 actionable suggestions:

1) Purge your junk, trash and old furniture

When potential buyers come to check out your house, you want them to be able to imagine themselves already living in the house. To help them feel at home, get rid of those piles in your office, garage, or basement.

Decluttering and de-personalizing is a smart way to reinforce the message that you’re ready to let go and move on!

2) Deep clean and make repairs

Cleaning will help your house sparkle. And while you clean, take note of things that need to be repaired so you can address them. Minor repairs like patching holes, fixing leaking faucets and replacing burned-out light bulbs can go a long way in making your house more attractive to potential buyers.

An experienced real estate agent can make things easy by telling you what needs to be fixed before selling.

3) Get professional help

Resist the urge to go the DIY or trial-and-error path when selling your home. A lot of things can go wrong in the often complex and unfamiliar process …and you don’t want to scare off that perfect buyer.

An experienced agent can help you set the best listing price for your home, market it to the right buyers in their network, and close the sale in your favor.
